Step one is to create an account with GBCI and register for your Green Associate Exam. The Green Associate credential attests to basic knowledge and skill in understanding and supporting green design, construction, and operations.

The exam is a computer-based, multiple-choice examination that is administered by Prometric; you will have 2 hours to complete the exam. You are required to register for the exam with the USGBC and it is recommended that you download the USGBC Candidate Handbook prior to attending the Green Ideas LEED Green Associate Exam Prep.

Step two, the LEED AP with specialty, signifies an advanced depth of knowledge in green building practices and specialization in a particular LEED Rating System: Building Design & Construction (BD&C), Operations & Maintenance (O&M), Interior Design & Construction (ID&C), and available in 2010 Homes and Neighborhood Development (ND).

Looking beyond 2009, GBCI is working to develop a third designation, the LEED Fellow credential.
LEED Fellows would become part of an extraordinary class of leading professionals distinguished by their years of experience and contributions to the standards of practice and body of knowledge for achieving continuous improvement in the green building field. This credential is still under development.
