Creatively designed to care for victims as well as defendants, lawyers and judges, the new 695,000 SF Maricopa County Downtown Court Tower is targeting LEED Certification and will be an energy efficient facility. At the time of construction, the Tower is Maricopa County’s single largest project with a total cost of about $340 million, including design and construction. This modern courthouse boasts a variety of technologies designed to improve efficiency and to meet the rapidly increasing backlog and growing needs of our justice system. The new facility will allow for speedier trials, thereby cutting down higher jail costs caused by inmate’s needs of housing, food and other care. The new facility will be located on the block bordered by First and Second Avenues, and Jackson and Madison Streets.
