Echelon Place Convention Center and Casino

Echelon Place Convention Center and Casino

Las Vegas, Nevada

The Echelon Place Casino and Resort will be one of the largest single LEED projects ever constructed. This $5 billion dollar, 12 million SF resort includes 5,300 hotel rooms, 25 restaurants and bars, a state-of-the-art convention center and casino. The project will save between 70 and 100 million gallons of potable water each year due to an extensive water conservation plan within the buildings. The owner has recovered more than 600 trees from the previously developed site. At least 85% of the construction waste will be diverted from landfills, including demolition materials from the Stardust Hotel and Resort that existed previously on the site. As the LEED strategist for the project, Green Ideas has positioned Echelon Place to succeed in reaching the LEED Silver certification level and qualify for the state of Nevada’s Office of Energy tax abatement program for LEED certification.

Sustainable Strategies

  • Energy Star compliant roofing will be used to reduce the Urban Heat Island effect and increase energy efficiency

  • Air Quality Sensors will notify the building control system if CO2 levels are too high or if filters need changing

  • Construction waste is being diverted from landfills and recycled

  • Interior materials (paints, adhesives, sealants, and carpets) that have low or zero volatile organic compounds have been selected

  • Comprehensive recycling programs and green cleaning programs minimize ongoing environmental impacts

Project Results

  • LEED for New Construction SILVER level is goal

  • 85% of construction waste will be diverted from the landfill

  • 20% of materials extracted, processed, and manufactured within a 500 mile radius

  • 30% recycled content in project materials
