Project Manager/Green Building Consultant with Mechanical Engineering & Energy Management Expertise

Green Ideas Environmental Building Consultants provides support for building owners, architects, engineers and contractors who build high performance, sustainable buildings. Our services include educational programs, energy and water efficiency consulting, LEED project management and product evaluation and documentation services. The Green Ideas team manages more than fifty LEED projects representing over 16 million square feet of sustainable space. DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

A Green Ideas Project Manager adds value to the building industry by demonstrating leadership, versatile communication skills, organizational and technical skills, energy literacy, creativity and time management. An effective Project Manager/Consultant provides clients with green building solutions, options, strategies and technologies to meet their objectives. The Consultant also manages by implementing those strategies and technologies through scheduling, communication, research and creative problem-solving. Our Consultants are efficient in organizing, documenting and finalizing projects to ensure that our clients are pleased with results and feel they have been provided a valuable service. A sincere interest in the advancement of sustainable building design is imperative to Green Ideas’ team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advise clients regarding energy, commissioning, indoor air quality and other technical issues
  • Research green building strategies and technologies for both internal purposes and client needs
  • Prepare technical reports, tools, and calculators
  • Serve as resource to LEED project team members with regard to sustainable building design, construction and operations issues in the area of building systems
  • Develop working relationships with clients and team memberts via effective, professional communication, both written and verbal
  • Assist in identifying and supporting new business development opportunities related to LEED and sustainable building design and operations
  • Provide technical, organizational and scheduling support to senior level consultants

SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTISE

  • Advise clients regarding energy, commissioning, indoor air quality and other technical issFamiliarity with HVAC fundamentals and basic engineering analysis including thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics and energy/mass balance equations
  • Ability to interpret and correctly apply a variety of Green Building Referenced Standards, including but not limited to:
    • ASHRAE 55-2004 - Thermal Comfort
    • ASHRAE 62.1-2007 - Minimum Airflow
    • ASHRAE 90.1-2007 - Energy Performance
    • ASHRAE 189 - Green Building Guidelines
    • ASHRAE 0 - Commissioning Practices
    • SMACNA - Indoor Air Quality Guidelines During Construction
    • Green-E - Certified Green Power
    • ISO 14000
  • Interest and understanding in technologies such as underfloor air distribution, chilled beams, radiant flooring, thermal storage, geothermal, building automations systems, economizers, etc.
  • Basic understanding of energy management - ability to gather and process whole building energy usage data, utility rate information, and also identify potential energy conservation opportunities
  • Understanding of major federal tax benefits and local utility rebates associated with energy efficiency and renewable energy applications
  • Ability to perform ROI and life cycle analysis for a variety of energy conservation projects
  • Knowledge of renewable energy cost trends and green power purchase markets in the US

GENERAL CONSULTING SKILLS

  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex ideas and processes through strong language and writing skills
  • Analyical skills for reviewing design and construction documents, technical data, regulations, standards and reports
  • Expertize in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Project with an aptitude to learn new software (i.e., energy analysis; glazing performance analysis; life-cycle assessment; web-based tools)
  • General understanding of the principles that guide environmental design
  • Ability to synergize well with both project teams and the Green Ideas’ internal team members in a flexible and consistently positive manner

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Engineering degree from an accredited University. (Electrical, Mechanical, or Energy Engineering preferred)
  • 3+ years professional experience with demonstrated advancement in sustainable building design and construction
  • LEED Accredited Professional with LEED Project Management Experience
  • Experience or involvment with USGBC
  • Certifications from, or affiliation with, industry organizations in the building sector such as AIA, ASHRAE, AEE, CSI and USGBC are desirable

  • Provide technical, organizational and scheduling support to senior level consultants

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, environmental management or related field
  • 3+ years professional experience with demonstrated advancement in sustainable building design and construction
  • LEED Accredited Professional
  • LEED Project Management Experience

Educational Programs Manager

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The Educational Programs Manager will oversee all developmental, organizational and administrative activities that facilitate both a smooth-running department and seamless client operations. Responsibilities include developing and promoting educational programs, scheduling trainers and minor bookkeeping. A successful candidate must demonstrate a background and skillset which will support the fulfillment of these responsiblities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop new classroom (public and private) and web-based training programs as determined by management
  • Update existing training programs (public and private) as required
  • Promote classroom and web-based training programs nationally (public and private) through website, print advertising, media alerts, networking, etc.
  • For Public Seminars:
    • Create schedules for seminars
    • Keep website and online store updated
    • Create Marketing e-mails
    • Keep contact database updated
    • Be the main point of contact for clients
    • Track payments against Merchant Accounts (Cybersource, B of A, AMEX)
  • For Private Seminars:
    • Create relationships with large corporations
    • Create customized educational programs
    • Generate, distribute and track training program proposals
    • Keep Private Training Forecast updated
  • Maintain an accurate forecast for all training programs
  • Develop working relationships with a variety of industries nationally in an effort to make Green Ideas their educational resource for green building education
  • Create tuition reimbursement programs
  • Recruit and train a variety of instructors for all programs
  • Administer continuing education requirements with key organizations (AIA, BOMA, USGBC, etc.)
  • Develop and manage USGBC “Preferred Provider” program
  • Develop special events as required
  • Develop, promote and distribute other Green Ideas branded products as determined by management
  • Book speaking engagements for Green Ideas Principals
  • Oversee tasks such as generation of proposals and invoices for educational programs, management of accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Maintain expense accounts and reimbursements
  • Schedule and appointment setting for training personnel with clients
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for trainers
  • Maintain an orderly and efficient office environment
  • Respond to client requests and inquiries in an expedient manner
  • Maintain contact database and company training calendar
  • Develop and brand training related documents
  • Edit technical training documents generated by consultants and apply to programs
  • Create and maintain intuitive office organization with regard to location and application of electronic and hardcopy resources and files
  • General support of management staff as it relates to training

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in business, communications, education, construction or related field
  • 5+ years related experience with demonstrated professional advancement
  • Demonstrated sales experience
  • LEED Accredited Professional

SKILLS

  • Excellent organizational and writing skills
  • Expertize in MS Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Outlook with an aptitude to learn new software
  • Writing grammatically correct routine business correspondence
  • Editing technical and analytical information

Marketing Coordinator

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for written communications and documentation as it relates to business opportunities, marketing communications, and business development activities. The person in this position is largely accountable for the development and maintenance of all written communications programs. Areas of accountability:

  • Research and coordinate any and all Public Relations opportunities; create and maintain a media contact database
  • Coordinate, create and distribute e-marketing collateral, including monthly newsletter, special announcements and holiday greetings
  • Maintain and update website and marketing collateral, including social media, brochures, project profiles and Power Point slide show
  • Manage calendar for public exposure events such as speaking and writing commitments, conferences and special functions for the Green Ideas Team
  • Coordinate all internal and external events
  • Catalogue and maintain project awards and photos
  • Create marketing packets for Principals and Manager for client meetings and speaking engagements
  • Update project forecast and client database in Quickbase
  • Maintain and update collateral for SOQ package, including resumes, firm profile and project highlight lists
  • Provide additional support to Marketing and Business Development Manager in all areas of responsibility

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Experience with contact relationship management software
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate ideas both written and oral/verbal
  • Expertise in creating detailed PowerPoint presentations
  • Expertise in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience with a variety of graphic design software such as In Design, Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • An aptitude to learn new software as technology advances
  • Excellent writing abilites including grammatics, content and editing for technical and analytical reports for marketing purposes
  • LEED AP or Green Associate is recommended
