Climate Solutions

Given our depth of expertise in LEED, high-performance building consulting, energy auditing and modeling we believe that the built environment could have the single greatest impact in reducing our energy demands (carbon emissions) thus neutralizing the negative effects on our environment and economy. However, although the reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) is driving climate change, a number of other greenhouse gases regulated by the Kyoto Protocol, methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), hydrofluorocarbons (HFC), perfluorocarbons (PFC), and sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) need to be factored in an overall climate solution plan. Many of these compounds are found in building products and as outputs of electricity creation thus the reasons Green Ideas maintains strong ties to the utility industry and consults with manufacturers on the environmental attributes of its products and processes.

Our approach to climate solutions marries a variety of approaches such as the Natural Step Method and material issues from reporting structures such as the Global Reporting Initiative to develop plans that will reduce the use of carbon and myriad of other toxic substances with an emphasis on solutions that will positively impact your bottom line.

We partner with you to build plans that will allow your company to evaluate your actions against a set of standards and goals such as:

  • Will it move you towards sustainability — lessening or eliminating contribution to the use of fossil fuels, chemicals and compounds produced by society; and the degradation and destruction of our natural resources?

  • Is it flexible enough so it does not lock your resources into unsustainable practices for long periods of time?

  • Will it provide a sufficient return on investment allowing you to reinvest and continue the process in future sustainability planning?

Using these strategic guidelines in conjunction with an analysis of your current and future emissions we can determine which actions to take now and in the future to maximize your efforts and impact on your sustainability journey.
