Arizona Game & Fish Department Headquarters

Arizona Game & Fish Department Headquarters

Phoenix, Arizona

The new Arizona Game & Fish Headquarters Building, developed by Lincoln Property Company, was designed as a full-service center to support research operations, vehicle maintenance, public assemblies, educational instruction, department administration and customer service for residents in the State of Arizona. The result was a fully integrated, state-of-the-art LEED Platinum certified facility. Built to exceed the department’s needs and support future growth, the building surpasses Governor Janet Napolitano’s Executive Order 2005-05 to achieve LEED Silver certification and implement renewable energy technologies as a state-operated building. This milestone project was the fourth building in Arizona to receive LEED Platinum certification.

Sustainable Strategies

  • 191 kW of solar panels were procured at no cost to the project, by engaging a private investor and structuring a 3rd party power purchase agreement (PPA) to fund the renewable installation

  • Exterior light shelves were tuned to the equinox to take better advantage of winter daylight, while reducing solar heat gain in the summer

  • High performance glazing and insulation improve the energy efficiency of the building envelope, reducing the load on the mechanical systems and the energy consumption in the building

  • 282,500 SF of open space were preserved and dedicated as natural habitat on the southeast portion of the project

Project Results

  • LEED for New Construction PLATINUM level achieved

  • 65% energy cost savings above ASHRAE 90.1-1999 energy standard

  • 42% of building electricity supplied by 191 kW photovoltaic system

  • 73% savings of potable water use for irrigation

  • 43% of building materials manufactured within a 500 mile radius
